So I am at a water stop this morning, and after your comments and thinking more about H20 consumption, I looked at my water bottle a little closer. I thought they were 12 ounce bottles, so I was basing my water consumption on half of the bottle or a little less in some cases. Ooops - I realized my bottles are 16 ounce bottles so I am actually getting a little more than I thought, and I posted. So most of the stops were a little more probably 5-7 ounces. Sorry!Happy Feet 26.2https://www.blogger.com/profile/07319635538117315117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8080856887174526132.post-26831972725820919022009-08-05T20:00:01.715-05:002009-08-05T20:00:01.715-05:00This heat/running/fueling thing is still a puzzle ...This heat/running/fueling thing is still a puzzle to me! After the past two long runs, I have a new plan for our 16 miler this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes: vitalyte and water as I start and then sips throughout run. I'm going to eat 2 Gu Chomps after one hour and take two electrolyte pills and then one each half an hour after that. 2 chomps every half an hour and keep the liquids coming, especially before and after the big hills.
Salt every hour or so. I can't take GU...too strong on my stomach but the chomps are going very well this summer.

PS...I have been sweating ALOT lately...
megAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00129091073767399081noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8080856887174526132.post-43097366141108213322009-08-05T19:31:57.138-05:002009-08-05T19:31:57.138-05:00Thanks!

I'll probably eat a Gu gel every 4-5 miles, too, on long runs. I like the chocolate, too, except for the time I stuck the empty packet in my shoe and it leaked. ; )

You did a good job finishing a very long run!Tina @GottaRunNowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16321814382532015313noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8080856887174526132.post-73829779743690732052009-08-04T20:56:02.648-05:002009-08-04T20:56:02.648-05:00Wow that's really awesome! Sounds like you’re ...Wow that's really awesome! Sounds like you’re doing everything right. You are a smart runner! I also sweat up a storm and always carry plenty of water and packets of Electrolytes. Fortunately the Greenway has a couple of water stops that have the coolest water fountains. So I'm able to refill plenty. So keep up what you’re doing! When the time comes for SG you are so going to rock!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8080856887174526132.post-10290060708690248752009-08-04T19:15:08.935-05:002009-08-04T19:15:08.935-05:00Amazing run! Although my longest run has only been half marathon I can say I am a big hydrator/gu(er) too. I think I might go a bit further (3 miles)but I drink a bit more (8 oz or so), so it evens out to close to what you are doing. Keep it up, you are doing so well!Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13061231036755945077noreply@blogger.com
