Airhead in Boston

Oh yes, I definitely left my brain in MS or somewhere along the way.

* after getting off the plane in Boston I forgot to take my phone off of Airplane mode until arriving back in MS.  (thought it was weird, no calls, not texts, but I just thought everyone forgot about me :(

*Monday evening - leave our hotel, walking,  to the Marriott to meet Jill, Meg, Bethany & Ryan and any other bloggers that made it for Jill's birthday party.  We made it to the hotel, walk inside and I can't remember where we are supposed to meet.  I am thinking it was one of the meeting rooms.  I was supposed to look in my Boston folder to get the name of the meeting place,  before leaving the hotel room (airhead forgets).  Guess what else, yep, forgot my phone in the room.  If I would have remembered the phone, I probably would have forgotten to get Meg, Jill, or Bethany's numbers.  So I go to the desk, maybe they can let me know what meeting room it is.  Nope, it's not a meeting room.  I called Meg's room and someone in her room tells me to meet them in the Champion's Bar.  Yeah, back on track.  Go to the Champion's bar and walk around slowly looking for people who look familiar through pics I've seen on the internet.  No luck!  Walk around again.  I know I will recognize them if I see them,  I guess not, because I never located anyone that looked familiar.   Tired and hungry, we give up and go to dinner.  Bummer!   So wanted to meet my blogger buddies.

It continues....
*Tues am. - we are packing and I am looking for my camera.  I can't find it, but I think it must have already been packed.
*arrive at the airport and start seeing marathoners with their Boston marathon posters.  Yikes!  Where is my poster.... thinking, thinking, thinking  On Sunday am we switched hotels, and we had to store our luggage until a room was ready.  When they brought our luggage to the room that evening, I didn't notice my poster was missing.
*get on the plane and one of the marathoners is looking through the Boston Globe at marathon results.  Yep, forgot to get a Tues. paper.
*get home unpack, you got it, no camera - all my pretty Boston Gardens pics -( after the sun finally came out) - gone.  no pretty tulips blooming, no cherry trees, no pretty willow trees with city buildings in the background, all gone.  Luckily we did have a few pics on Chad's camera.

So Boston bloggers - please post your pretty Boston  pictures so that I can steal them because most of the pretty garden pictures were on my camera.

A few lingering thoughts about the marathon.
Monday - why would anyone run this marathon more than one time
Thurs. - maybe I should go back and try to improve my time

There were many people lining the course, but I actually thought there would be more.
The course is not very scenic - so glad it is lined with spectators.
I had a great time, can't believe it went by so fast.
Smaller marathons are still my favorite.  St George is my favorite so far.

What is your favorite marathon?

Cute, Ginny. I giggled at your Monday thought versus the Thursday thought. I can't believe I've gone back three times and I will probably be back at least once more...I'll post some pictures for you but I don't have any garden pictures this time!
So sorry we missed you,
meg

Hey Ginny - you did an amazing job running that course so well! Loved your report and this post just made me laugh - this kind of stuff happens to me all the time.. By next week you'll have picked an other BQ course, I'm sure of it..

"Airhead,"
So sorry I missed meeting you. Run Boston again next year so you CAN meet all of us. I would suggest you put an ad on Craigslist Boston and see if someone will mail you a newspaper. Or, amybe there's a blogger who lives in Boston that has an extra newspaper. I know one blogger from Boston: http://www.shewearsaredsoxcap.com/2010/04/special-birthday.html
My favorite marathon of the 3 different ones I've run is NY. A huge vocal crowd, and a scenic route. By the way, what was your Boston time??

I live in Boston (well not right in Boston, but 25 to 30 minutes away), so if I can get a handle on how to run marathons and qualify I could see myself running many years. Even if the course is stinky. Congrats again on running!

Well now you have to go back so you can meet the bloggers you missed! I think if you went back you would absolutely get a better time. But then again, there are so many interesting places to run! Cheers!

You are an airhead! Too funny! I lost my poster too. Love your Monday-Thursday reflection! Would have been great to meet you at Jill's party!

It is just like childbirth. You do not think you will ever do it again until a couple of days later and you forget about all the pain :) Have a great weekend!

So sorry I missed you! I'm exactly the same way, vowing never to do Boston again but a couple days later that changes.

Such a bummer on the pictures! Hopefully you can piece it together with others. My favorite marathon is definitely Richmond, which I ran last fall. PR'd after a long stretch of bad marathons.

Yikes! Now you need a new camera and you need to get back to Boston to take new pics and you need to organize a meetup with blogger buddies! ;)
Love how your thoughts changed between Monday and Thursday :) Congrats on your race...just getting to run Boston is very impressive.

Funny!! I am the same way, even when I don't have a major marathon on my mind! It sounds like you're on the way back to Boston already. Chicago is my favorite marathon so far. Have a great weekend!

LOL - I'd be just as spacey as you.

I've only run Marine Corps so far and it was huge, but super well organized and a lot of fun. My next one only has about 400 runners. I have no idea if I'll love it or hate it. Only time will tell....

I totally could see myself doing the same things-except there would have been lots of crying, too! :-) I am not a good one to ask, in terms of favorite marathons. For me, the course HAS to be DIRT - no pavement - has to be scenic, and has to be FUN!!! Those are my criteria. Have you considered a trail marathon?????? Or, a trail 50k????!!!! :-) Have a great weekend!

UGHHHH, girl! We were right there in pretty much plain sight at Champions!! I feel so bad that you didn't meet up with us, I was sooo looking forward to meeting you, too! I was airhead in that I never put anyone's phone numbers in my phone, only had them on a piece of paper, which, of course, I couldn't find. Next time FOR SURE, no matter where we are, we're getting together!

Are you on FB? If so, I will dump all my Boston pics and you can grab them off of there if you friend me (Jill Andre Parker), seems like an easier way than emailing them. Also, I have a spare poster if you want it! Just send me your address, I'll go get a tube or something to mail it in. I mounted my first Boston on some foam board and hung it in my basement - it brings a smile everytime I walk by it! HUGS!!

What other marathons do you like? I spectated Boston to watch my daughter and I had a great time.

Completely marathon brain! Just being around it you are infected!

bummer about losing your camera :( too bad you couldn't find the party on monday night!! boo.

i was a little 'letdown' about the spectators too - everyone made it sound like it was wall to wall for 26 miles. granted there were a lot of people, especially out in the 'country', but yeah less than i expected.

Just checking in after the crazy weather that went through LA, MS and AL yesterday. I hope you're OK!

Hey airhead! Tehe....I really hate calling you that, but you said it first! I guess you're going to have to go back next year so that you can meet all of those blogger friends that you missed this year! :)

I like your monday vs. thursday thoughts :)

Tasha said...

That stinks that you forgot the camera, but you did the Boston MARATHON so that's the most important thing! And P.S. You are a ROCK STAR! :-) I love your Monday/ Thursday thoughts! I am the same way but my Thursday came about 3 weeks after my marathon. I hurt. For weeks. So far, I have only done the Mercedes Marathon in Birmingham and loved it! Not too crowded, really well organized, and it was a two loop course so there were lots of spectators along the way!

Glad you're fine! Thanks for the note.

My favorite marathon is NY. I felt like I was running through a rock concert!

I also love doing small town races as well, so count me in for liking both large and small size races

Isn't that the way it always is? :)
