Cross Training and Adding On!

*I'm happy to report I'm back up to an amazing 25 miles of running last week with my long run now at 8 miles.  Ha!
It's a process, and I'm cautious!
*I walked 1 mile, I biked 17 miles, I completed 6 days of Supreme 90 day, and 2 yoga classes
*I'm really liking the Supreme 90 day workouts ($20.00 at Bed Bath & Beyond),  and I feel like it's making me stronger on my runs.  I like that the workouts are fast paced, and 30-40 min.  I like the variety of the workouts each day too.
*I'm making progress with MyFitnessPal.com (free calories in, calories out tracking system)  It's working!
*I will continue to increase my mileage, with some step back/recovery weeks in the mix.
*7 weeks until Tupelo 26.2 training run, 13 weeks until Mt. Desert, ME 26.2 hilly training++ run, and 20 weeks until Baton Rouge 26.2 mile race.   I'm thinking my goal race will be Baton Rouge (or Stennis if the weather is perfect), so I have PLENTY of time.  I'm enjoying the no pressure training with lots of cross added in.
*This week, I will move my long runs from the flat lands of South LA,  to the hills of South MS.  Tupelo and MDI will both be challenging races, so I need the long runs to be on hills.
As I ran this section, I heard several "critters" too close to the road.  Scary because I have seen dead alligators  near the edge of the road.  Eeeeek~!
Yeah, I outran this!

I will be joining Amanda over at Run To the Finish in celebrating her 30th birthday with a 3 mile run.  Join Us!  A great way to celebrate Amanda's day, and get in a good training run.
Details on her site, but the run can be anytime Aug. 10th-15th.

I love this time of year, with the mileage going up, the training intensity on the way up, fitness level slowly rising.  Thankfully, in the past couple of years, I have grown to LOVE the summer training.  This year, I love it more than ever!
Fun weeks ahead!

Good for your for being cautious but also enjoying the process! 26.2 training run? Girl, you are speaking another language here. ha! :) But as always, you have me inspired and Happy!

An alligator is one animal I haven't seen dead on the side of the road - yet. Sometimes I run with pepper-spray, but I'd be too scared to pepper-spray a live one close enough to make a difference!

No pressure training = FUN! It certainly is nice to mix it up a bit - I always enjoy my weekly bike ride - switching it up keeps us fresh. Dead alligators along the road??? Eeeks! And good thing you out ran those nasty storm clouds - do you guys get much lightening??? We do and it scares the crud out of me. I take cover as soon as I see it. I always enjoy the water/boat pics-probably because we don't have much water here!

I'm sure there are some crazy critters in your neck of the woods. That road doesn't have a bike lane. Looks dangerous. Maybe you shouldn't run there anymore.
Signed,
Dad

Chris K - Ha Ha! You are CA spoiled. You must be kidding, this is the South - remember MS, LA, AL the fattest states in the union for a reason. Let's just say exercise is NOT a priority for most residents.
Hubby tells me all the time, I shouldn't run on this road. Thanks so much for agreeing with him. Ha Ha

Girl I am with you - barely hanging on the 25mile weeks woo!!! :) it's just disheartening cause I know I used to do 40mpw no problem! :-/ oh well, it's a hot summer... (and in the winter it will be cold, fall/spring I will have allergies, lol)

I've never seen an alligator in my life - other than the zoo - and I think I'd have a total panic attack if I saw one on the road. Yikes. Be careful!

Great job building up the mileage! Slow and steady... Someone asked me yesterday where my mileage was and I think for the first time running in probably 10 years I said, "I have no idea." I'm afraid to start adding it up cuz then it becomes a huge game that I'm not ready to commit to right now. I'm still healing! :)

OK-missed this! Clicked on your name and wondered when you fell off the end of the earth and then I found this post I missed:)

Supreme 90 huh! Nice work. I've made it to day 8 of P90X once-ha! but now I just use the videos by themselves at times (rarely). Great workout but I can't seem to fit it in when my mileage is up there. I love to make excuses....Great job of getting ALL the important stuff in!

Dead Alligators!! I once got in a showdown with a woodchuck on the trail but no alligators!!

So glad you're loving training and excited about what's ahead! I'm jealous of your 26.2 mile training runs!! You are a wise woman. Smart with the mileage, the recovery, the crosstraining. I'm impressed:)

Yay, how positive!
You are running Tupelo? Oh gosh, enjoy it. I am not sure if it is hard but its probably going to be sauna like. Although, my Director ran it last year and almost PR'd. Have you ever ran GumTree?
