Back at it and LOVING IT!

Currently I have had 4 easy runs since Rocket City 26.2,  and will run another easy run today.  I am feeling great.  Just easy running for now, but REALLY looking forward to training with intensity again.  I will run the Steam Whistle 12k this Sat., Jan. 1st, and that will be my first run with any intensity to it.  I really do not have a plan for the 12k, and will just run by feeling that day.  I will run with intensity and see what the day brings.   I will run 3-4 days prior to the 12k, but will limit those to easy running.

Christmas morning I headed out for a rainy 6.5 mile run.  I was determined to start the day with a run.  It went something like this....
This is how it's done BQ or Die (ha ha) 45-50 degrees and windy
Thanks Linde (my sister), for taking the pics.  She came to rescue me from the rain, but I was have having such a great day, I decided to finish the run.  I asked her to take a few shots so that I could pick on my blogger friend, Chris K.  (just kidding Chris).  Mom recently got rid of her treadmill so it was the road, or no run.   Plus, I am not good on the mill, but I do believe it's great mental training and discipline to get those longs runs in, on the treadmill.
It ended up being a GREAT run.  One of those days you remember.

Good on you for that nasty run. I can take cold, I can take rain - but NO THANK YOU on the cold rain. I waited until it stopped.

Woo-hoo, pictures!!! Great job on getting out in spite of the gray and rain - you look like you are enjoying yourself! Even if your mom did still have the treadmill, outside is ALWAYS better than inside! Have fun at your 12k this weekend - I bet you will end up having a fabulous race time!

The cold I don't mind, the rain I hate!

You should have been wearing a lime-green shirt for Chris K, and then he'd certainly be squirming right now! :)

Good luck in the 12K...but just have a blast! First race of the New Year - woohoo!!

Seems that I am officially the biggest Wimp in the history of Blogging. You have inspired me though....it's supposed to rain this Wed and I've got a fairly big run scheduled. I am gonna run it outside no matter what! I am gonna take a bazillion pics and everyone will be kissing my butt & apologizing for give me so much crap :-)

Or, maybe I will just run inside on the treadmill at the gym watching Sports Center.

You rocked it. I'm impressed.

Chris K - you know we pick because we love ya. Keep in mind, this was a 6.5 mile run, NOT a long run. In many ways, running the long run on the treadmill is a much more "manly" thing to do. It takes an iron will for sure. Something I don't have.

Ginny - it's all good. I think it's funny and kinda deserve the kidding. I set myself up for it :-) That being said, I AM gonna run in the rain tomorrow. Maybe the second half of my long run :-)

I'm obviously missing the inside joke here with Chris and the pictures, etc. but you're looking good out there! Thanks for the Garmin comments and info! I actually did read the manual for a bit yesterday and set it up to do mile splits....yay! We shall see if it grows on me...I might just be one of those runners that likes to run naked (well, without all the bells and whistles...I'm told that is a real term in running blog world. ;) Although real naked running might be freeing and fun! )

Looks like a fantastic run! I can see why you didn't want to be "rescued". Of all the elements, wind is probably the one I dislike the most.

Poor, poor Chris. I'm going to hunt him down(since he lives just minutes away)and take his picture while he's running in the rain. Otherwise, no one will believe it.

So happy you're back to running so quickly!

You look like you're having a total blast out there! I've been driven indoors to the mill because of copious amounts of ice and snow. I'll start thinking of it as making me mentally tougher. :)

Cold rain is tough, way to go!

Hey, I have run MDI twice - GREAT RACE! I have some info for you on places to stay that are cheaper than the host hotel and right at the start. I am happy to answer whatever I can about it. Email me manfarr1974(at)yahoo(dot)com

I've been sidelined by snow and thus tortured on the treadmill. It's gonna be the end of me I just know it... Way to live it up in the rain! Very jealous of your outdoor run... :)

Good job on getting back out there in spite of the terrible weather. Some of my best running seems to be in the worst weather.

Good luck on the race this weekend. Enjoy.
